Position Objective:

The Provider Consultant is an administrative role and is responsible for reviewing patient cases with their respective medical necessities and addressing potential transfers to more appropriate levels of care. The incumbent will report to the department lead (or similar role) and will provide expert guidance and support in the field of clinical practice. You will collaborate with healthcare organizations and professionals to optimize patient care, improve clinical outcomes and enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with healthcare organizations and professionals to assess current clinical practices and identify areas for improvement
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of clinical processes, protocols, and workflows to identify opportunities for optimization
  • Monitor and intervene with Peer-to-Peers for redirection of Outpatient Hospital procedures to Ambulatory Surgical Centers and Free-standing Imaging Centers
  • Develop and implement evidence-based clinical guidelines, protocols, and standards
  • Provide training and education to healthcare professionals on new clinical practices, technologies, and treatment modalities
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement quality improvement
  • Analyze clinical data and metrics to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in medical research, technology, and healthcare policies to provide informed recommendations
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for healthcare professionals seeking guidance on complex clinical cases
  • Participate in research projects and clinical trials to contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge and practice
  • Additional duties as assigned


Position Requirements/Skills:
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
  • Board certification in a relevant medical specialty
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice experience
  • Proven experience in healthcare consulting or advisory roles
  • Strong knowledge of clinical practice guidelines, evidence-based medicine, and quality improvement methodologies
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other healthcare technologies
  • Proficient with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for real-time collaboration

  • Requires standing, walking, pushing, bending, kneeling, and reaching
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have own means of transportation
